Customer Assignment

The command is used to assign customer records to each fiber of a node internal. The customer information includes fields for an account number, name, address, phone number and a priority number for each node internal.

Assign Customer Records to a Node

  1. From the OpenComms Fiber Tab under the Modify/Delete section, select the Customer Assignment command:

  2. Select a node in the fiber network.
  3. The Customer Assignment by Node dialog box opens.

  4. Key in the customer information and select the node internal being assigned.
Note: A unique MSLink value is assigned as the account number by default when posted to the dtabase unless an actual account number is assigned.
Note: After keying in the information for a particular internal, click Post to save the customer information, and then continue with the next internal. Once all of the internals have been assigned, click Done and repeat the process for the remaining nodes.
Note: Priority numbers determine the order in which the customers display in the customer list. Customers display in descending priority order or alphabetically by customer name.

The Customer Assignment by Node dialog also gives the user the opportunity to Link or Unlink an Address to a node internal. After highlighting a Node Internal, and then clicking 'Link Address', the user will be asked to select an address to associate with that Node Internal. After selecting the address, the 'Linked Address Information box at the bottom will be filled in with the address information. Clicking 'Unlink Address' will allow that address to be unlinked from the Internal. Delete Customer will remove both the Address link and the Customer information from the Node Internal.
